Community Initiatives

COMMUNITY INITIATIVES are the cornerstone of our work and ensure that SBNH continues to lead and expand collaborative partnerships and coordinate internal and external initiatives that support SBNH's organizational goals and the overall health of the South Boston community. Initiatives and partnerships that expand and coordinate networks of resources and services to improve the lives and the health of South Boston include South Boston Association of Non-Profits, South Boston's Collaborative Response to Child + Family Recovery, South Boston Summer Collaborative, SBNH's Holiday Helper Program, and other community partnerships and programs.

Mobile Market

Thanks to our recent partnership with the YMCA of Greater Boston, we have a mobile market on the 4th Wednesday of every month from 1:30-3:00 PM.

The truck has free fresh produce and shelf-stable items. It is open to the public — everyone is welcome to shop and build a grocery bag at no cost.

No ID or registration required.

Mobile Market Guidelines:

  • Please bring your own reusable bag!
  • Two shoppers at a time: Please stay in line and wait for your turn to shop.
  • Check item limits: Signs will show how much you can take of each item. Example: Apples (5) = take up to 5 apples.
  • One visit per person: Each person may shop once per market.
  • Items are first come, first served! We recommend arriving early for the best selection.
  • Please be respectful: Be mindful of others and our staff to help keep the market running smoothly.
